After School Snacks

I love my children, but sometimes summers can be very long. But now that everyone is back in school, parents everywhere can take a deep breath and relax, right?

Of course we can.

But first, everyone needs to wake up, get dressed, eat breakfast, remember their lunch and get to school on time. Then and only then, can we relax. Relief will be sweet, but temporary, because as soon as they get home, they will be starving.

Now what? Whether you are running out the door to classes and sports or staying at home and tiding them over until dinner, here are a few ideas that have worked for us.

On the healthier side, fruit kabobs and dip are always a tasty treat.

Apples and pear slices with nut butter and stick cheese or lunch meat and cheese roll ups are simple to prepare and will fill your hungry kids up without overloading them with sugar.

Smoothies are also a delicious way to fill them up nutritiously and a great way to switch it up. Check out our delicious peanut butter and chocolate smoothie for a protein rich snack.
